My Step Dad, Louis Clifford Mancill, Thank God For Our Veterans

louiscliffordmancill-korea-train

My Dad, Louis Clifford Mancill moving out with the troops to Korea in 1950. His Father & Mother, Elliott Devocious Mancill & Cora Lee Wilson Mancill, his wife, Myrtle Marie (Elder) Mancill and son, Carl Louis Mancill, were there to see him off,  in Foley, Alabama. He entered the U.S. ARMY as a Private in World War II, and he also fought in the Korean War and was advanced to Sergeant. He was one of the cooks on the front lines feeding our troops. He told me that sometimes he had to move the mess hall three or four times a day with the fighting. He played the guitar by ear and sung for his buddies. He was a proud World War II and Korean War veteran.

Texas Tudor's Memorials

Louis Clifford Mancill, Johnnie Day, & Paul Buskirk, at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX, c. 1975. We loved it when they played “Roll out the Barrel”, “The Night Life”, “Good Times” , and any other Ray Price, Eddy Arnold, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, or Meryl Haggard songs. We were so happy to be taken out for a good time. We loved the night life. We loved music, and pizza and Dr.Pepper and Diet Coke. We did not need beer to have a good time.

From Paris with Love (11 photos)

I loved Paris, France. I was so blessed to be able to go there in March 1980 with my Mother & Dad, Jean & Louis Clifford Mancill, and my ex-husband, Richard Wayne Fallin.
